Haha, tricked you. This article is not actually about Britney Spears. IMHO, the world does not revolve around Britney, there are so many other important issues going on in the world.

The destruction of the Tibetan culture and people by China.
To me. I always have had an interest in Tibet. It has been a place that I have wanted to visit all my life. It is a country on the roof of the world. It is so high, that many get altitude sickness. They really have no natural resources being so high in the mountains but the Tibetan rule allowed them to have 1000 year of peace with war or hunger. In the 1960's China invaded and the Dalai Lama fled Tibet and left his people behind.
Now the Chinese is attacking the Tibetan culture on too fronts. They have forced hundreds of thousands of ethnic Chinese to move to Tibet. So now, the Chinese are the majority in Tibet. With cross marriages, the Tibetan people and culture are going extinct. To force compliance, the Red Army has put an Army Base of 250,000 strong to keep the Tibetans in order. Now, they have opened up high speed rail direct to Tibet from Shanghai and Beijing, which will serve to further erode the culture.
On the other front, they are attacking the Tibetan Religion which is the central pillar of the Tibetan society. The Tibetan Religion is a form of Buddhism with it's leader the Dalai Lama. The religion believes that the current Dalai Lama is reincarnated from the previous Dalai Lama which in turn reincarnated from the previous and so on and so on. The second in command is a person known as the Panchen Lama. This position is important because it is the Panchen Lama that chooses upon the death of the Dalai Lama which child is the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama. So the Panchen Lama picks the next Dalai Lama. The other part of this chain is that the Dalia Lama picks the next Panchen Lama. (So they can never be on the same plane together). This chain has gone unbroken for 1000 years. The Dalai Lama picks the Panchen Lama, the Panchen Lama picks the Dalai Lama and so on and so on.
However this chain will be broken soon. In 1995, the Dalai Lama picked 6-year-old Gendun Choekyi Nyima, to be the 11th Panchen Lama. The unfortunate thing is that this child lived in Tibet which is under the control of China. Soon after this nonmination, the new Panchen Lama and his family vanished. Than China picked a Panchen Lama of their own.
So now the Dalai Lama has said that he will declare his own replacement and also he declared that he will not be reincarnated in China. So I don't get this. How can you pick someone who is your reincarnation when you have not died yet?
Anyways, all of this is really sad to me. A thousand year old culture will be gone in 10 years and 99.9% of the world does not know about it. Yet they know all about one Britney Spears.
